ESA GENSO-UVa

GENSO

An ESA/NASA/JAXA project for students. School of Telecommunication Engineering. University of Valladolid, Spain.

Students

GENSO is the acronym for the Global Educational Network for Satellite Operations, a student project from the European Space Agency (ESA). The GENSO Task Force (GTF) will participate in the deployment of a radio-amateur satellite tracking ground station in the Telecomm College of the University of Valladolid.

Students with GTF experience will have something on their CV which stands out to a future employer, more than just the standard degree topics

Timeline

2009, October, was the starting of the project for the University of Valladolid. Studies were performed, radio and antenna suppliers were contacted and the first buying list was written. Funding was obtained and the project started towards the first goal: to set up the antenna system.

At the end of May (2011), the antenna system and rotators are working fine. The antenna installation is complete, but now it is required to tweak the Ground Station: computer, software and minor hardware details have to be set up.
